Tummy Talk

Introducing Tummy Talk

Earlier this year the New Zealand College of Midwives was approached by Active Birth Taranaki to help produce a consumer oriented magazine.

This magazine Tummy Talk has been published by Active Birth Taranaki since 2005. Active Birth Taranaki Inc. is a group of parents who promote, support and celebrate active birth at home or in a maternity facility and want to foster confidence in the woman’s ability to give birth naturally.

The New Zealand College of Midwives is pleased to be able to support this publication.

As midwives we see thousands of overwhelmingly wonderful birth experiences everyday and it is a constant source of dismay that this fundamentally normal life passage does not get reflected as such in the public media. Midwives know that positive birth stories are how women learn to know and trust their bodies and their natural instincts. We also know that every woman will have a different story of how they achieved that. Even when the outcome is unexpected a woman and her partner can still feel empowered by the journey.

The stories in here written by the women themselves will contribute to both women's and midwives confidence, uplift our hearts and help us all celebrate birth as the amazing experience it is. We are hoping for more positive births stories from both women and midwives to contribute to future issues.

We all feel that every midwife, pregnant woman and her family should have access to this wonderful publication. To download the Tummy Talk order form, click here.
