Midwives

Tairawhiti District Health

Come for the midwifery, stay for the lifestyle!

With its golden beaches, warm temperatures and vibrant local economy based on wineries, agriculture and tourism, Gisborne is one of New Zealand’s fastest growing districts. We have one of the highest birth rates per capita, with approximately 750 births per year in our culturally rich region. Our Maternity Unit boasts a relaxed atmosphere and with five birthing suites and eight ante/post natal rooms is well resourced to provide quality care with its friendly staff. These suites/rooms are situated together so midwives work across all areas.

We have been very successful with recruiting but still have full and part time positions available for registered midwives to join our expanding staff. New graduates are welcome to apply. You will be working in partnership with the women of Tairawhiti and their families, alongside their LMC’s. We provide primary and secondary care within a collegiate and supportive environment. Relocation support is available, and a comprehensive orientation package will be tailored to your needs.
